LONDON (AFP) - Former Manchester united and England midfielder Paul Scholes has been appointed overseer of Oldham Athletic, the club announced upon Monday (Feb 11).Scholes, 44, is taking upon his first managerial role, signing a concurrence past the club he supported as a guy after spending his entire playing career at old Trafford.The former Premier League club are languishing in mid-table in League Two, the fourth tier of the English game. "Oldham gymnastic are delighted to consider footballing legend Paul Scholes as the further first-team overseer upon a one-and-a-half-year-deal," the club said in a statement."I couldn't be any happier at the minute," Scholes told Oldham's qualified website. "It's been a while. Obviously there's been talk of it past I over and done with my (playing) career."It wasn't something I was quite ready to pull off and there's obviously been three or four period greater than the last six years where it could have happened and I've not been quite ready." Scholes, a believer of Manchester United's famed "Class of '92" closely David Beckham and Ryan Giggs, said he wanted to make laugh Oldham's fans."I desire my team to be harsh and focused upon winning first and foremost," he said.
